Dough

img_9761 img_9762Today I found a new recipe for play dough and it claims to be the softest play dough ever.  Since the weather is changing I figured a fun new dough might be something to keep little brothers hands busy.
The recipe calls for:
1 1/2 cup water
1 tsp of gel food coloring or 6 drops of liquid food coloring
8 drops of essential oil if you want a scent to your dough
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup of corn starch
combine all ingredients in a medium sized pot
place on stove top on medium high heat, stir continually
the dough will begin to form, stirring takes about fifteen minutes.
once the dough forms remove from stove top and pot and place in a bowl and let sit until cooled
So like I had previously said this is a new dough recipe to me, I usually use the kool aid recipe and love it, but thought we would branch out.  Needless to say after making this dough I can attest to it being very smooth and soft, that is kind of neat, however it was very sticky for immediate play.  Once we let it sit for a few hours in a zip lock bag it was less sticky but it was a little grainy and seemed to dry out if not being played with.  I think we may just stick with our usual recipe!
