Do you remember the hope chest that I bought back in October? Well, it has been sitting in our down stairs living room serving it’s purpose of holding all our blankets. Today I decided to give it a little facelift. After having so much fun re-doing Big Brother’s chair I wanted to try a different technique on the chest with the chalk paint. The technique I did is called “Weather Wood” and I love it. Hubby and I cannot seem to decide on a style that we both really like, I tend to lean towards the shabby chic style and he, not so much. Hubby like the wood grains and wants the wood to show. I found this “weather wood” style and I thought it might be a good compromise for hubby and I. The entire project from beginning to end took me about two hours. The piece itself is a little bit bigger and the rubbing it down after getting the paint on took a little more time, but I really think the end piece makes it worth while. For the handle/nobs I just spray painted them with Rustoleum but I am not a fan of the style of handles so those may be coming back off in the near future for something I like better but until that happens… here is the finished project.
