Crock Pot Oatmeal

img_9765I have been toying around with the idea of trying oatmeal in the crock pot and since hubby bought me a new crock pot in October I am ready to try a recipe.  Last night the snow began falling and I was not sure if we were going to have a snow day or not (we did not for the record) however I thought a hot bowl of oatmeal might be nice for big brother and maybe even daddy.  The recipe I found was very simple and I had everything on hand…
Crock Pot Oatmeal
Spray crock pot with PAM spray
two apples chopped (I used a granny smith and a gala apple)
1/4 cup of brown sugar (I only had dark brown sugar on hand so that it what I used)
2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of nutmeg
a pinch of salt
2 cups of water
2 cups of milk
2 cups of oatmeal
Place everything in the crock pot do not stir
Program crock pot for 9 hours of low heat
Then wake up in the morning to enjoy a nice warm bowl of apple pie oatmeal!
The only pointer I received from big brother is that maybe next time I should use more milk, he really likes his oatmeal creamy…I have to say it was pretty good.
